MICAH CHILD joined SIMI in 2014 and brings a wealth of experience in investing, financial planning, and corporate finance to his work with clients.
Micah began his career at a boutique mutual fund company in Seattle where developed a passion for investment analysis and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation. Driven by a desire to work directly with clients, he shifted roles to work as an Investment Advisor, pairing his deep knowledge of investments with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. After a decade in investment advisory firms, Micah went to work in corporate finance including five years at Amazon.com. While there he worked across a variety of U.S. and International divisions, growing his responsibilities to include nationwide transportation logistics and warehouse network planning, overseeing multi-billion dollar investment programs.
Ultimately, after years in corporate finance Micah missed having clients at the center of his professional life and returned to financial advising at SIMI. As an independent advisor-owned firm, he values the flexibility SIMI has to serve as a true financial partner to our clients and help with “anything and everything going on in clients’ financial lives.” Micah is an active member of the CFA Society of Portland and the Financial Planning Association (FPA®).
Outside of work, Micah has volunteered for a number of non-profit boards and advisory committees. Of note, he advises on impact investments in local housing through his roles with the non-profit Workforce Housing Investment Fund and Missing Middle Housing Fund, which support development and innovation in workforce housing. Throughout the summer and fall, you can find Micah helping organize bocce and soccer events with Special Olympics of Oregon which he has been doing since 2010.
Micah lives in Portland, Oregon with his family of three. Once-upon-a-time a collegiate goalkeeper at the University of Puget Sound (Go Loggers!!), he is now an energetic “goalkeeper dad”, surf spectator, and proud choir supporter as parent of two boys. Never one to turn down a challenge, he has turned his attention to rock climbing and completed climbs across the Pacific Northwest, as well as several “tourist climbs” on international travels.
